Most new multi-occupancy developments have basement car parks. At least part of this will be covered by a natural landscape.
We have installed planting schemes and taken on projects where installation was less than perfect.
The most important aspect is that a landscape needs to be monitored over a 3 year basis to ensure the basic design is successful.
WEST HEATH PLACE 2010
We supplied mature plants enabling this landscape to develop quickly over the first two years.
Landscape 100% over car park with 60cm depth of soil.
THE LEXINGTON 2015
A failing landscape. Unfortunately the landscape installation had been during a period of heavy rainfall. The soil had become saturated and many of the small plants were unable to cope with the wet conditions. This led to a lot of plant failure.
The developer commissioned us to install a mature mature plants are to replant those plants which has survived.
Mature planting after two seasons. 45cm soil depth over car park.
MATURE Cornus and replanting of original small plants. Hoheria against the wall.
KEW BRIDGE 2017
A root ball and bare root installation in at the end of April. A thick layer of wood chip mulch with occasional maintenance was the maintenance schedule.
Note the large spacing for individual plants to mature over time.
(Densely planted landscapes can become a long term problem. Such landscapes should be carefully monitored over a three year period and thinned appropriately.)
